Megan Watkins, MA

Practice Nurse

Megan was born in Clearwater, FL and moved to the Gainesville area in 1990.  Her interest in the medical field began after becoming a witness to, and an active participant in her mother’s care after her mother suffered serious injuries in a car accident.  Megan became her caregiver at the age of 13, as she recovered from a shattered pelvis. In 2007, Megan graduated from Bronson High School where she participated in track and cross country sports.

She received her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license at the age of 16 and began working in a skilled nursing facility soon thereafter.  She is CPR and BLS-certified, and has her Medical Assistant certification. She has worked in multiple clinical settings, including the University of Florida Old Town clinic.  Megan has become passionate about the concept of direct primary care, she values the relationship between patient and physician and is excited to be working with Drs. Cotter and Tyndall-Smith.

Megan enjoys, in her own words, “all the gross stuff” and loves to assist with biopsies, incision and drainage of abscesses, and with all sorts of procedures.  Her long term goals include getting her RN degree, which she will start working towards in the fall of 2018, by attending evening classes at Santa Fe College. Megan enjoys fishing, mud-bogging, and playing in the park with her children.  She loves country music and christian contemporary music. She enjoys all types of food. Megan and her partner Bubba have three children. Her family is her passion and joy.
